Web Update - 06/14/2008

Pictures from the Father Son Campout have been uploaded to the Event Pictures page. You can view them in a browser window or you can see them in slide show format using Google Picasa by clicking on 'Album' .

The Father Son Campout was a great success. The Lord provided great weather as the smoke cleared overnight and the temperature cooled down to the upper 60s. There were about 31 fathers, sons and men that came out. We began setup about 6:00 pm on Friday afternoon with about 10 tents being set up. We had a "non-competitive" kick ball game followed by a game of capture the flag. Everyone roasted hot dogs for supper, along with chips, cakes and smores. Many roasted marshmallows later in the evening. A local neighbor warned us about foxes and raccoons that may be roaming around at night. (Of course it was Friday the 13th!)
Later we all gathered around in a large circle and sang and enjoyed music while several played guitars. Monty Kaufman brought us an appropriate Father's Day challenge from the Word of God about King Solomon and wisdom. After midnight and when everyone had wished Richard Collins a happy birthday, one by one many started retiring to their tents. Several younger attendees stayed up all night playing ball and making noise that didn't help those trying to sleep! Some thought it was just thunder.
The next morning cooking began about 6:00 am. We all enjoyed a great breakfast of link sausage, bacon, eggs and Sunny Delight juice. Soon after, it was time to start packing up and get back to the hussle and bussle of our busy lives.
Memories are precious, wisdom can help us for the challenges we face here on Earth and God's free gift of salvation will give us eternal life. These are the things that we cannot loose and can never be taken from us. Make and cherish your memories with friends and family, ask God for wisdom as King Solomon had, and don't put off accepting the free gift of salvation until another day. There is no promise of tomorrow.
